I usually do this at the end of the year, but today for whatever reason, I’m in a writing mood and thought I’d catch up on some of the good highlights of my year over the past few months. I’ll try to do one more post like this later next month.
Well, It’s been a long time!
I’ve gone through a bit of a bad patch over the last year. It’s 2020...I reckon we all have. I didn't realize that I hadn’t written an entry since Christmas of last year, and here it is almost Thanksgiving. I feel like I’ve gone through a bit of a depression this past year. I don’t know why except to say that realizing my age, I have felt like I haven’t done enough with my life for God and giving Him the glory He deserves. I’ve had some relationships suffer because of it, and had some other setbacks in my life while dealing with it. I’ve also felt like due to my time away from home that I don’t have enough time with my son while working on raising him to grow up to be a man of integrity for Christ. I’ve been doing a lot of praying as the Lord helps me through it, and I know He will be faithful continuing to do so while strengthening me through my trials. (Philippians 4:6)
(On a brighter note) A lot of the more positive moments I’ve had this year IS time that I’ve gotten to spend with my son. He’s getting a little older now and is wanting and able to do more with me outdoors, which is very exciting! I have had a blast teaching him about creation while on the water, hiking in the mountains of Central Virginia, and exploring the woods of eastern NorthCarolina.
We will soon have to start camping. He asks me all the time now to take him camping. I’m glad though. I’m glad that he enjoys the outdoors enough to want to go. We’ve seen a great many things in the outdoors this year. Lots of things that have sparked fun conversations about God and the Bible. (Psalm 111:4)
In Christ,
Kevin-
