I hope all is well with everyone. Can you believe October has come and gone once again??? I hope some of you were able to get the mountains, or anywhere outdoors to enjoy the change in the leaves and their color. I noted in my last blog entry "Seeing Change" that if I made it to the Mountains last month, that I'd share some pictures. Well, I'm here to make good on that. Below are some examples of the colors that were still available just after the peak on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.
I always seem to go back to thinking about Genesis when I'm in the outdoors. I think about creation and I got to thinking about God and his commandment for us to take time to rest ourselves after working (Exodus 20:8-10). God rested after the first six days of creating everything (Genesis 2:2-3, Exodus 20:11) a few thousand years ago. Even after God commands us to rest in His written Word, I see Him reminding us through creation itself, by examples of making the trees and plants in fall and winter, and the animals to need rest.
But something that I think we often over look is that rest is also a gift to all of us that trust and obey our Creator Jesus Christ. We all go through a hard life of working, our bodies aging, frustrations, loss of loved ones, sickness and disease, and the stress of it all combined because of the curse of sin. Jesus promises us rest from all of that when we leave this cursed world and enter into His perfect kingdom, as long as we acknowledge Him as Master and Creator of our lives, as well as all things made, and knowing that He is God's one true Son who died for us so that we could be with Him and our saved loved ones in His Kingdom.
God Bless,
Kev-
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30
