This entry will be a bit different to what I'm used to writing about. However, I will still be in the mindset of God's creation, and what the Lord teaches me through it.
During the last few years, I have thought about possibly looking into mission work. But each time that I would look into it, something would get in the way or come up, whether it be work, different plans already made, or waiting on God's timing. A few months ago some things started coming together that I had no idea where they would lead to. I was presented with two opportunities...a choice to be exact. I could go to Israel, or on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Who wouldn't want to go to Israel, right??? I prayed sincerely about where to go. I had vacation time at work that I needed to use. But, I had pre-planned a trip to go to the Bahamas on my boat earlier last year. That time had already been approved by my boss for January. Surely, my time wouldn't be changed to where I could make plans for one of the other two trips.
While I didn't know Spanish, I found quickly that one language we all share is the language of a smile. There was not one time when I smiled at someone that I didn't receive a smile in return.
And this is where I get back on track with creation. Just as God has created all things, He created a plan in eternity past for me to go to the Dominican Republic to share in an incredible trip with people who love Him like I do, serving Him by serving others who need Him desperately. I am forever changed by this trip, and am so glad that I followed His command to go.
And though I couldn't speak the local language, He created a universal language that I understand now more than ever. The language of a loving smile!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. -Proverbs 3:5-6
As always, get outside when you can and explore and enjoy the beauty of all that God has created!
In Christ,
