Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. -Mark 1:35
I hope you all have had a good month of January so far. The weather has been crazy lately to say the least. Yesterday I decided to take a little downtime for myself and went out to explore some hiking trails my wife told me about near the university where she teaches. We've been expecting a large snowstorm here so I wanted to take advantage of the clear weather while I had it.
It was a good hike! I got some much needed exercise and enjoyed the scenery in the woods. What I think I enjoyed most about it though, was the quiet and the stillness. There wasn't a breath of wind, and surprisingly no sound from the traffic down at the base of the mountain I was on. All I could hear was the trickling of a stream that ran alongside the trail. It was very relaxing. It was a good time just to think deeply about some things in my life, and be alone with God in prayer.
But it is good for me to draw near to God;
I have put my trust in the Lord GOD,
That I may declare all Your works.
